Mark your calendar for the annual VegOut! Challenge kick off at our First Saturday Market at Hope Farms on March 1. We’re thrilled to welcome Chef Kerby Martin from the popular veg-forward restaurant, Vibrant, who will dazzle our tastebuds with delicious new recipes to add more veggies to our plate.

 

About Chef Kerby

For Kerby, cooking is a beautiful intersection of art, science, discipline, and a commitment to do the right thing.

Kerby worked her way up from bussing tables and slinging coffee in Houston to culinary training in New York and the chance to work with some of the top chefs in the country. Along the journey, she found her unique style that blends classic and modern cooking techniques that are beautifully cultivated through southern hospitality. 

Back in Houston, she is using her skills to blend the diverse cultural flavors in our dynamic city. Partnering with trusted local farmers, honoring seasonal local ingredients, and finding combinations, techniques and flavors that allows her to present a dish in its best form, is a process that continually humbles her. She believes that mistakes are integral to growth and have often revealed exciting new flavor combinations and ideas for her. But, when everything seems to flow in an effortless rhythm, you can taste the difference. Whether working on new dishes for Vibrant or making dinner for friends, Chef Kerby is on a journey that evolves with what each season has to offer, marrying fresh ideas with the nostalgic taste of home.

"VegOut Kickoff" chefs in the field cooking class

At our Chefs in the Field Cooking Classes on March 1 to celebrate our annual VegOut! Challenge, Chef Kerby will share her expertise in crafting dishes that prove healthy eating doesn’t mean sacrificing taste. Adults and kids alike will learn techniques for preparing greens just harvested from Hope Farms and new ways to incorporate these nutrient-rich ingredients into their daily meals.
